The Houston Texans are looking for more consistency on the offensive side of the ball after young quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled at times in 2024, which was his second season in the NFL after a breakout rookie campaign.
A big part of Stroud’s struggles can be attributed to injuries devastating both of his top targets, receivers Tank Dell and Nico Collins, over the course of the season. The Texans know they can’t afford to have their receiving corps depleted again and are taking the necessary steps to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“A deal before a release: Jaguars are trading WR Christian Kirk to the Texans for a 2026 seventh-round pick that originally belonged to the Rams,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the trade on social media.
“Texans came out with what they needed for something they didn’t even own lol good move,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Basically takes the place of Dell and potentially Diggs. Solid deal for the Texans. Always felt Kirk was underrated,” one fan added.
“Great Texans move. Helps fill the diggs and Tank Dell void. Exact same thing they did to poach Mixon last year. Giving up 7ths to make sure you get your guy. Good work,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Kirk fits into the Texans’ offense.
