The Denver Broncos surprised many fans and pundits with the way they performed this season behind the leadership of head coach Sean Payton and a strong finish to the year from rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
Although the Broncos exited the playoffs early with an ugly loss to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round, Denver has a lot to be excited about as it looks to the future.
Unfortunately, things are all roses and sunshine in Denver at the moment.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Broncos have fired assistant coach Michael Wilhoite following his arrest on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer.
“After thorough discussions as an organization, I met with Michael Wilhoite and informed him we have decided to part ways,” Payton said in a statement to 9News. “We recognize the serious nature of the allegations against him and believe this is the best course of action at this time.
“I appreciate Michael’s contributions to the Broncos and am confident he will move forward in a positive direction.”
In total, Wilhoite is facing three charges: second-degree assault on a police officer, obstruction of a peace officer, and criminal mischief, all stemming from one event at a Denver airport.
Hopefully, Wilhoite can land on his feet after everything is sorted out.
