It appears that Liverpool will fail in their attempt to sign one of their targets this summer.

Liverpool have already started laying the groundwork for a busy summer transfer window.

Although the Reds are flying high in the Premier League and could still end the season with three new trophies in the trophy cabinet, there is a serious renovation expected in the summer.

It’s not like Arne Slot’s side are looking for a complete overhaul. But Slot himself has admitted that the club needs to add more quality players to remain at the top.

Liverpool’s summer business may require selling some of the current stars at Anfield. At the same time, the outcome of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation will also impact what Liverpool do in the summer.

Nevertheless, Liverpool are already putting in the groundwork for summer additions. They are looking at several players, one of which is Bayern Munich’s star Joshua Kimmich.

The 30-year-old midfielder’s current deal with the German giants is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, fueling rumours of a potential move.

Bayern executives, including CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, have publicly courted Kimmich since August 2024, urging him to “become a legend” by extending his stay.

Negotiations stalled at some point over wage demands, and Bayern reportedly withdrew their contract offer, raising hopes that Kimmihc could move to Liverpool.

However, it appears that the 30-year-old and Bayern have reached a major positive point in their discussion, with Sky Germany now reporting that Kimmich is willing to stay at the Allianz Arena beyond this season.

“Regarding Joshua Kimmich’s contract extension, after new talks today, things are now looking good,” Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg said on X.

“All parties are willing to extend the contract beyond 2025. Further details are now being discussed and attempted to be finalized.”

Fellow transfer expert Fabrizio Romano corroborated what Plettenberg reported, adding,

“Kimmich and Bayern, new deal at the final stages.”

With these reports, it is safe to say that Liverpool fans will not have the chance of seeing Kimmich in the club’s famous shirt.
