Rampaging [Rob Cross](https:// https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/rob-cross) took a leaf from Luke Humphries' book as he smashed a second nine darter of the night and emptied sponsors BetMGM for £60,000.

Having watched opponent Luke Humphries smack a perfect leg in his quarter-final against the World No.1, the local hero then followed suit in his semi-final against Nathan Aspinall.

Tournament sponsors have put up the prize of £30,000 18 carat gold darts for any player who bags the nine on a Premier League night. Humphries claimed the first set and Voltage zapped his way to a second straight afterwards on a staggering night in Brighton. Cross produced a majestic moment when he pinned trebles 19 and 16 before double 18 after a couple of maximum 180s.

Humphries gave it a massive celebration after he hit his nine and paid the price as the comedown afterwards led to him losing. Cross took the opposite approach as he kept the celebrations low key as he looked to get the job done and book a Final place against Luke Littler. However, just like Cool Hand, the jinx of the nine struck as he was defeated by The Asp 6-5 in a deciding leg.
