“He Ain’t On It;” Former Green Bay Packers OL Discourages Team from Trading for 2x Pro Bowl WR

One of the hottest topics among Green Bay Packers fans this offseason is what the team will decide to do at the wide receiver position. Undoubtedly, the front office is going to be adding to the room in the wake of Christian Watson‘s torn ACL, but exactly how he chooses to do so is a matter of discussion.

Perhaps fueled by the comments made by Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs in the week leading up to Super Bowl LIX, many fans believe Green Bay will either trade for or sign a wide receiver who can be Jordan Love‘s go-to target in the passing game.

Over the last two months, multiple names have been floated as possible trade or free agent targets. Most recently, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has been a popular name floated on social media, thanks in part to the fact that he officially requested a trade.

One former Packers player, though, does not think it is a move Green Bay should make.

Former Green Bay Packers Offensive Lineman Mark Tauscher Does Not Think DK Metcalf Is Worth the Asking Price

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (14) jumps over Arizona Cardinals cornerback Starling Thomas V (24) during the second quarter at State Farm Stadium.

While most Packers fans were excited about the prospect of potentially trading for Metcalf, Seattle’s reported asking price has some second-guessing that excitement. According to reports, the Seahawks would like a first round pick (and more) in return for the two-time Pro Bowler.

And Mark Tauscher believes that Metcalf is simply not good enough to warrant a first round pick:

With all this DK Metcalf trade talk and the #Packers giving up draft picks who in the NFL that’s available would YOU give up the 23rd pick for? I think the list is small and DK ain’t on it

To be frank, Seattle may be hard pressed finding any team willing to give up a first round pick for Metcalf. While he is still just 27 years old, he is also in the last year of his contract. Whichever team trades for him will have to sign him to an extension right away or risk losing him to free agency after just one season.

In that light, Metcalf may be off of Green Bay’s wish list, at least for now. If Seattle’s asking price drops, the Packers will most likely be interested.
