Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead has all but ruled out Cooper Kupp returning to the team next year, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Kupp has spent the entirety of his _-season NFL career with the team, but injuries have damaged his worth lately.
Former Rams defensive tackle D'Marco Farr, who won Super Bowl XXXIV with the team when it was in St. Louis, talked about why it would be a mistake to ship Kupp off.
"Now, he's been hurt a lot. I get that," Farr said Thursday on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football." "He's missed some games. But, you know, Cooper Kupp is basically an extension of Sean McVay on the field. He is so smart. This is gonna be a huge loss if he's not here. No one knows this offense better than him, outside of (quarterback Matthew) Stafford and McVay."
Cooper Kupp was the MVP of Super Bowl LVI. He captured the league's first receiving triple crown since 2005 during that same season. Farr believes, with Kupp's track record, the two sides could figure something out.
"He's got equity with the football team, so I think there's always a chance," Farr said. "It may be if Cooper says, 'I really wanna be here.' And, 'Let's work this out business-wise.' I think you acquiesce to that. You bring him back. It's gonna be weird, that's one of those things."
Kupp had a career-low 701 receiving yards last season, playing in 12 games. Still, he was targeted 100 times during that abbreviated campaign.
