The Tennessee Titans have several viable options with the No. 1 pick in next month's NFL Draft. While there is a chance that first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi could trade back from the top of the board, a player like Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter or Miami quarterback Cam Ward could be too transformational to pass up.
Titans star safety Quandre Diggs was asked this week on X about what he would do with the selection, and he made his preference known. When given the option to select from any prospective college quarterback in this year's draft, Diggs felt that there was an obvious choice.
"Cam Ward without a doubt," wrote Diggs. "Bias(ed) people would say (otherwise), but I know the person and player!"
Ward was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024 after a 39-touchdown, 4,313-yard campaign for the Miami Hurricanes. He is widely considered to be the top quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft but Tennessee needs help at positions all over the field.
Diggs is a three-time Pro Bowler and was having a solid season for the Titans in 2024 before being placed on IR in early November. As a 10-year NFL veteran, Diggs has commanded respect both on and off the field, so his word could carry some weight come April.
While it is unlikely that Borgonzi will base his decision on something that Diggs said, his words are potentially emblematic of what the team feels its biggest need is. Will Levis did not perform well enough last season to put the team in a position to win, so the Titans will need to remedy that in 2025, one way or another.
