Nikola Jokic has missed just six games for the Denver Nuggets this season. However, the three-time NBA MVP is now in danger of missing his seventh when the Nuggets host Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
Jokic is currently dealing with an ankle issue, and it has put his status for Friday's Western Conference showdown in jeopardy. The Nuggets revealed on Thursday, via the official injury report, that the seven-time All-Star has been tagged as questionable to play against the Suns.
The official diagnosis for Jokic is inflammation in his left ankle, which incidentally, is the same injury that also had him listed as questionable to play in the Nuggets' last game. The silver lining is that Jokic was able to take the floor in Wednesday's 116-100 win over the Sacramento Kings.
It did not look like Jokic was significantly bothered by the ankle issue against the Kings, finishing with 22 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in the victory.
Similar to how things turned out against Sacramento, it's very much possible that Jokic will be able to play through the injury again on Friday. However, it sounds like a game-time decision for the Nuggets, who will likely confirm their cornerstone superstar's final status as the game draws closer to tip-off.
It is worth noting that Aaron Gordon (left ankle sprain) has also been listed as questionable against the Suns, while Zeke Nnaji (left ankle sprain) is probable to play.
The Nuggets head into Friday's clash with a 40-22 record and are currently third in the West.
