N. Korea promotes women's loyalty ahead of Int'l Women's Day

SEOUL, March 7 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Friday promoted women's loyalty and devotion to the ruling party and the regime ahead of the upcoming International Women's Day.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) published several articles hailing the contributions by mothers, female workers and other women in celebration of Women's Day on Saturday.

North Korea marks the international holiday with award events and music performances, using it as an opportunity to promote women's loyalty to the regime.

The KCNA hailed women as "true revolutionists and resolute patriots who know how to dedicate all they have freely to the party, the revolution, the motherland and the people."

The news agency also highlighted a list of pro-women policies implemented by leader Kim Jong-un, saying that women "sincerely do their utmost to become the foundation for their children's growth, their families' harmony and the motherland's bright future."

Marking this year's International Women's Day, an event conferring "socialists mother honors," and a reunion event for female socialist contributors and agricultural workers were held, the KCNA also reported.
