The Jacksonville Jaguars overhauled their receiving corps on Thursday.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported the Jaguars dealt WR Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans for a 2026 seventh-round pick. Subsequently, ESPN's Michael DiRocco reported that Jacksonville released tight end Evan Engram.
Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. broke out during his rookie season in 2024, recording 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdown catches in 17 games. While he has solidified himself as a viable No. 1 option, the 22-year-old could face more double-teams if the Jaguars don't add more pass-catchers this offseason.
On his X account Thursday, ESPN's Ben Solak suggested the Jaguars will sign WR Chris Godwin when free agency starts on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Godwin played for new Jaguars head coach Liam Coen - a former Buccaneers offensive coordinator - for one season in Tampa Bay.
In 2024, the WR produced solid numbers in Coen's system before suffering a season-ending left ankle injury. In seven games, Godwin logged 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdown catches.
The 29-year-old could rebound from the injury next season and become a reliable weapon for Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
If Godwin signs with the Jaguars or another team, it may take time for fans to get used to seeing him in another uniform.
Since the Buccaneers took Godwin out of Penn State with pick No. 84 in the 2017 NFL draft, he has become a staple for the club. During the 2020 season, he helped Tampa Bay win its second Super Bowl.
