West Ham and Fulham have both been linked to a Manchester United player this week.

West Ham will already be looking ahead to the summer transfer window to improve their squad, as their Premier League season looks all but done under manager Graham Potter.

The Hammers are 16 points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League after their last game which was a 2-0 win against Leicester City. They have been knocked out of both cup competitions too, so they can focus on developing under Potter with the remainder of the season.

Some of that development will involve the club identifying what they want to do in the summer transfer window, and one position that they could look to improve is in defence.

West Ham and Fulham linked to Man United defender

The Hammers have conceded the fifth-most goals in the Premier League this season, meaning that Potter will want to add reinforcements in defence during the summer transfer window. According to a report by Caught Offside, West Ham have been linked to Man United defender Victor Lindelof, who will become a free agent in the summer after a spell of 8 years at Old Trafford.

There have been no talks over a new deal for the Swedish defender at United, and due to the fact that he has fallen out of favour at the club, he looks almost certain to leave in the summer. This season, Lindelof has made just 11 appearances in all competitions including just six Premier League games. However, his experience speaks for itself, as he has over 270 appearances as a Man United player.

The report suggests that Fulham, Wolves, and Everton are also interested in Lindelof alongside three Serie A sides (AC Milan, Inter, Juventus). The 30-year-old is on a wage of £120,000 per week at United, which would make him the fourth-highest-paid player at West Ham. Although, he would likely sign a deal worth less in the summer depending on what interested clubs want to offer him.

West Ham also linked to fellow Premier League defender

Lindelof isn’t the only Premier League centre-back that the Hammers have been linked to in recent weeks, as Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has also reportedly emerged as a target. The Saints are set for relegation back to the Championship, and it is likely that Harwood-Bellis will want to play Premier League football, in his pursuit of a second England call-up.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are both said to be interested in the former Manchester City man, who moved to Southampton in the summer transfer window for a fee of £20 million.

Harwood-Bellis has been one of the few bright sparks for the Saints this season, making 24 Premier League appearances. He also earned himself a call-up to the England squad by interim manager Lee Carsley, making his debut in a 5-0 win against Ireland in November.

For your next West Ham read, former Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui has been linked with a fellow Premier League side.
