OKC Thunder Make Crucial Announcement Before Trail Blazers Matchup

The Oklahoma City Thunder will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night as they look to extend their winning streak to six games.

While the Thunder would love to extend their winning streak, they also made some crucial injury announcements ahead of Friday's matchup.

Oklahoma City announced on Thursday that they have ruled out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, Isaiah Hartenstein and Cason Wallace for Friday's game against Portland. They have also listed Chet Holmgren as questionable

Thunder's injury report for tomorrow vs. Trail Blazers:

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (rest) is out

Jalen Williams (wrist sprain) is out

Of course, the surprise player that has not been ruled out is Holmgren. Holmgren sat out of Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a leg injury, but the Thunder have listed him as questionable for Friday.

Despite this, Holmgren is likely to be sidelined against Portland with the Thunder resting their entire starting lineup.

While the Thunder resting their starting lineup is somewhat of a surprise against a Trail Blazers team that has been on fire recently, it also makes sense due to their brutal upcoming schedule.

After Friday night's matchup with the Trail Blazers, the Thunder will then face off against the Denver Nuggets in back-to-back days on Sunday and Monday at home and then they will travel to take on the Boston Celtics on the road on Wednesday before ending their brutal stretch on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

This is a tough stretch for the Thunder against some of the best teams in the NBA and they are making sure that their star players are well-rested before it.

With the Thunder's starting lineup resting on Friday, it will be interesting to see who head coach Mark Daigneault elects to start in their place.

Fans can catch Friday's matchup between the Trail Blazers and Thunder on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. EST.
