The Phoenix Suns received a lot of trade interest in Kevin Durant ahead of the NBA trade deadline. While they didn't move the superstar forward, it's widely expected that they will revisit the option during the offseason.
Quite a few teams would line up with interest if the Suns openly make Durant available. One of those teams would likely be the Dallas Mavericks.
After shockingly trading Luka Doncic ahead of the deadline to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Mavericks will be interested in adding more star power.
Bringing in Durant to play with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving would have to be of interest to Dallas.
With that being said, ESPN has come up with a trade idea that would land Durant with the Mavericks during the offseason.
In their trade package, they have Dallas sending a major haul back to Phoenix in exchange for Durant.
Dallas Mavericks Receive: Kevin Durant
Phoenix Suns Receive: Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Naji Marshall, Dereck Lively II, 2025 First-Round Pick
This trade would deplete the Mavericks of a lot of their depth. They would need to pivot quickly and bring in quality role players to surround their star trio.
As for the Suns, adding so much talent would have to be of interest. Right off the bat, all four of the players could provide value around Devin Booker. They could also simply flip some of the pieces in other trades or package them together to bring in another big name.
While this is just an idea, it's one that could actually make sense.
Durant is going to be the talk of the offseason. All momentum seems to be headed towards him parting ways with Phoenix. Dallas would be more than happy to take him off their hands.
