'I'm optimistic' - Juric labels chance to manage at Anfield 'great experience'

Saints visit runaway league leaders Liverpool tomorrow, with the slide towards relegation to the Championship likely to continue.

The Reds are 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, while Juric's hapless basement boys are 13 points adrift of 17th-place and safety.

Saints held Liverpool to only narrow wins at St Mary's twice earlier in the season, once in the Carabao Cup, but will likely take little confidence.

Speaking ahead of the match, Juric said: "I was imagining a better situation to enjoy the game completely, but it's a huge thing to go to Anfield.

"To listen to the crowd singing before the match. I think it will be a great experience for me. It's never mission impossible. We will try to do our best.

"Before the match, I'm always optimistic and then after, maybe I think differently. But before, I always see the possibility of doing something good.

"I have to adapt. I think that there was a game that we were really good in defence, that we conceded not too many.

"And the Brighton game, even there, I made a mistake not adapting and now, I see. But after the Ipswich game, we were enthusiastic and everything.

"Maybe I made a mistake there. You have to adapt in some situations that are not capable of doing. Now, I want to mix a little bit.

"We want to try not to lose everything that we work on, but even adapt the team in the situation against Liverpool."

Juric added: "When you play against Liverpool, sometimes it's the way you want to die. If you do some things, they will find another way to beat you.

"If you are low block, they will find a way to beat you. I think we have to be perfect in both things. Sometimes press, sometimes low block."

Liverpool were in action on Wednesday evening, where goalkeeper Alisson Becker was the star man in a 1-0 Champions League win against PSG.

"Paris Saint-Germain was a much better team. You can win one game like this in 100 games. I think that it was a huge difference," said Juric.

"I was really surprised. I think that they can play even better in lots of moments, one-on-one in the defence and moving the ball well.

"The players of Paris Saint-Germain, they don't have a problem being one-on-one with Mohamed Salah, one-on-one with Dominik Szoboszlai. They were great."
