Seahawks GM Sends Strong Message on Dk Metcalf’s Trade Request

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has made it clear he wants out of Seattle.

On Wednesday, NFL Media insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported Metcalf requested a trade. He likely wants to play for a contender. Seattle went 10-7 last season but missed the playoffs for a second straight year.

In his weekly radio show on KIRO-AM in Seattle on Thursday, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said they are listening to trade offers for the 27-year-old and want to resolve the situation before the NFL draft, scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay. But the GM didn't shut the door on a return.

"Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. ...But worst-case scenario, we have an amazing, explosive, powerful athlete playing receiver for us again in 2025," Schneider said, via The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar.

The Seahawks are entertaining trade offers for DK Metcalf, but it's possible the star receiver plays out the final year of his contract in Seattle in 2025, general manager John Schneider said Thursday afternoon.

The Seahawks reportedly have a high asking price for the star WR. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Seattle wants a first- and third-rounder for the two-time Pro Bowler. She added Metcalf wants a new deal worth $30 million per year.

Whether a team wants to pay that much for Metcalf remains to be seen. Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill makes $30 million annually. Hill has earned five first-team All-Pro nods in nine seasons with Miami and the Kansas City Chiefs. Metcalf, meanwhile, has yet to earn a first-team All-Pro nod.

Metcalf returning to Seattle would be good for the Seahawks. He was a key piece of an air attack that finished eighth in the league in passing yards (236.5) in 2024. In 15 games, he had 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdown catches.
