Cardinal in the Combine: Elic Ayomanor

The 2025 NFL Combine is officially a wrap. Held yearly at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., this year’s event spanned from Feb. 27 to March 2. The prestigious, invite-only showcase allows prospective players to showcase their strengths and skills and impress NFL scouts, coaches and general managers.

Stanford’s singular invitation, redshirt sophomore wide receiver Elic Ayomanor, displayed a strong combine performance as he looks to boost his stock ahead of the NFL Draft in April.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, Ayomanor is a Canadian-born wide receiver who attended high school in New Jersey and Massachusetts before arriving at The Farm in 2022. He played two standout seasons for the Cardinal, emerging as the team’s star player and breaking the Stanford record for receiving yards in a game (294) during a double-overtime victory at Colorado.

The redshirt sophomore acquired 125 receptions for 1,844 yards and 12 touchdowns over 24 games for Stanford before declaring for the NFL Draft. Despite Stanford struggling as a team going 3-9, Ayomanor performed well, starting all 12 games and leading the Cardinal with 63 receptions and 831 receiving yards.

Throughout his college career, he has been recognized with numerous awards, most recently being named to the Second Team All-ACC. Ayomanor is also the recipient of the 2023 Jon Cornish Trophy Winner, which is given annually to the top Canadian player in NCAA football.

The wide receiver currently ranks as the No. 3 prospect for the CFL, however, in an interview with The Draft Network, he stated that “the day I decided to move to New Jersey for my sophomore year was the day that I began taking football very seriously as my future goal. Right then and there, my goal was to someday play in the NFL.” Ayomanor’s strong Combine showing has bolstered his chances of securing a spot in the NFL.

Throughout the weekend, NFL hopefuls were tested in various drills – including a 40-yard dash time, 10-yard split, broad jump, and vertical jump. Ayomanor’s official time for the 40-yard dash was 4.44 seconds, ranking him 17th amongst all wide receivers tested while also running a 1.58-second 10-yard split. His 10’7” broad jump ranked 10th at his position, while his 38.5” vertical jump tied him for 7th – further solidifying his athletic abilities. Amongst all NFL Draft prospects, Ayomanor ranks around pick 100 in terms of his physical attributes. Currently, this would make him a late third-round or early fourth-round pick.

To see where Stanford’s latest NFL hopeful will land, the 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26.
