Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey thinks his former club should pursue either Bryan Mbeumo or Mohammed Kudus if Mo Salah leaves when his contract expires.
Speaking to Cheltenham betting site BetVictor, Heskey said that he is still hoping that the Egyptian international signs a new deal, but Mbeumo and Kudus are the “two names” best suited to be his replacement:
“I wish they would sort out Salah’s contract right now because he’s been phenomenal. I don’t know what the sticking points are, but it would be great to see him stay at the club.”

“If he does leave, I’d like Bryan Mbeumo or Mohammed Kudus to replace him. They’re the only two names for me that really fit the bill. You want someone that’s already adapted to the Premier League, rather than signing someone who needs a season or two to settle in.”
What is Mbeumo’s situation?
The Brentford forward has been in very good form for the Bees this season, having scored 15 goals in 27 league appearances.
Mbeumo’s contract expires at the end of next campaign, but his club do have an option to extend it for a further 12 months. It means his asking price is pretty high at £60m, with the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal having also shown an interest
Kudus has a release clause that Liverpool could take advantage of
The Ghanaian international will be available for £85m this summer due to a buyout clause in his contract. However, Kudus’s unimpressive return of 3 goals in 25 appearances means that West Ham may have to accept a much lower fee.
Manchester United and (once again) Arsenal have been mentioned as potential suitors, but you do wonder how many teams will be put off by his recent poor performances.
