Alexander Isak is not for sale according to CEO Darren Eales - but that hasn’t stopped football insiders talking about his asking price.

Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal have reportedly all been made aware of the level of sum it would take to potentially prise Alexander Isak away from Newcastle United.

Although, this week CEO Darren Eales made it clear the Magpies would not entertain talk of any of their star men leaving - and that includes their striker from Sweden.

Isak has been in scintillating form this season, netting a remarkable 22 goals so far across all competitions. And that form has seen clubs across Europe sit up and take note of his performances. The inevitable links Arsenal have surfaced, and we understand Mikel Arteta to be a big fan of the 25-year-old frontman, while Liverpool and Barcelona have been linked more recently.

And, according to the well-respected David Ornstein, football industry insiders are talking about a ‘price tag’ for the player, even if Newcastle United will not officially put one on the player.

Ornstein said: “Every player has their price and while I’m not aware of Newcastle specifically setting one for Isak, the number that seems to circulate around the industry is something like £150m.”

It’s not clear whether than sum will put off suitors such as Arsenal and Liverpool, but it would break the British transfer record, were a deal done for the player at that price. It may well be enough to see Barcelona walk away, with financial struggles a real issue at the La Liga leaders.

Will Newcastle United allow Alexander Isak to leave?

Well, according to CEO Eales, it seems unlikely.

Speaking this week about potential exits for the Magpies’ key players, he said: “They're all under long-term contracts. We have no intention at all of those players being moved on. We're not under the gun or anything like that," Eales told British media.

“We've got an ownership that is ambitious and wants the best for the club. So from that perspective, it would be crazy for us to consider it.

“We're striving, as a club, to be at the top table. We want our best players here. I think it shows the value of Isak that they talk about him all the time. We're not looking to move any player on.”
