David Moyes has immediately transformed the fortunes of Everton since his return to Merseyside.

The Blues sat just one point above the relegation zone when he returned at Goodison Park, but they have now lifted themselves 15 points clear of the dreaded bottom three.

After eight games in charge, Moyes is unbeaten in seven Premier League outings and with a trip to Wolves next up on Saturday, he will be hoping to carry on his run.

Despite Sean Dyche facing trouble, there is no doubt that the levels have improved significantly since Moyes’ return to Everton and there is a sense of optimism in Merseyside again.

Under their former manager, the Toffees were struggling to score and under Moyes, they have netted 15 times already, showing a clear change.

Speaking on A View From The Bullens podcast, Michael Ball argued what has changed for the players: “It feels like they’re enjoying it.

“I think they trust in how David Moyes is going about his tactics or how he’s putting it across to the players that they can sort of see into it a bit more.

“They can probably go, I can do that and have the confidence to go out and fulfil what the manager is trying to put across to them. It’s a massive thing, you’re not second guessing yourself or playing a sort of football you feel is incorrect and just doing it under manager orders.

“I think the manager’s come in and identified how he wants to play football and the majority of the players are understanding that pretty well.”

Moyes has revitalised Everton

While many felt that the change of manager at Goodison was needed, there will no doubt be plenty who are surprised at just how well Moyes’ tenure has gone so far.

Although they still sit 16th in the Premier League table, the Blues have dragged themselves far from the relegation battle that they seemed destined to be battling in.

David Moyes (first term) 42.08%

Sean Dyche 30.95%

David Moyes (since his return) 44.44%

As Ball identifies, the players look completely refreshed and confident about what they are expected to deliver under their new boss.

Dyche was a different kind of manager but it does feel as though everyone was tired by the end of his tenure, regardless of his defensive style of play.

Plenty of players who previously looked like there was no hope have now shown a new version of themselves and could well be vital parts of Everton’s future going forward at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The Friedkin Group deserve plenty of praise for the managerial appointment which has, without a doubt, turned Everton’s season around.
