**West Ham** target Angel Gomes has not yet decided which club to join when his Lille contract ends in the summer.
The England midfielder can sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of France now, but it is understood the player is waiting to see if one club in particular shows interest.
At present, Gomes has five offers on the table from West Ham, Fulham, and three other unnamed clubs. However, the player is in no rush to decide, and his representatives (consisting of family and close friends) are expected to ramp up discussions next week.
West Ham did make contact with the player via a third party during the [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) window, but [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/category/news/) has been told directly that the offer was nowhere near acceptable.
Gomes’ main representative is his brother, while his father, Gil, was a professional footballer who played at under-21 level for Portugal and spent the final part of his career at Salford. C&H has been informed that the family will seek an intermediary to help finalise contract details with the chosen club.
However, if the Hammers are to make any headway in signing the skilful midfielder, they will need to completely rethink their negotiating strategy. To say West Ham made a bad first impression with their opening bid in January would be something of an understatement.
That initial offer, however, came before Graham Potter was appointed as the new Hammers manager. Hopefully, any further approaches will reflect the gaffer’s eagerness to sign Gomes
