The New York Knicks had a tough matchup on the road on Thursday night against the Los Angeles lakers.
Los Angeles got off to a quick start, but the Knicks were able to make a fourth quarter comeback to force overtime, but they were unable to keep place in overtime, losing to Los Angeles 113-109.
While the loss was a disappointing one for New York, they also received some disappointing news in overtime regarding the health of their superstar point guard Jalen Brunson.
Brunson had scored the Knicks' first six points in overtime, but then disaster struck as he suffered a twisted ankle on a drive to the rim that he was fouled on.

The star guard's right ankle caught the foot of Austin Reaves on the way back down, twisting it in a very awkward angle. Brunson then stayed down, writhing in pain.
Despite this, Brunson was able to stay in the game and knocked down both free throws before slowly limping his way to the locker room.
Brunson left the matchup having recorded 39 points, four rebounds and 10 assists while keeping the Knicks in the game.
Unfortunately for New York, they were unable to overcome Brunson's injury and they eventually fell to Los Angeles, who picked up their eighth consecutive victory.
Of course, if Brunson's ankle injury is a severe one, it would be a major blow for the Knicks. The star point guard has been their best scorer this season and he has also been one of the most clutch players in the NBA this year.
New York is set to take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night as the second part of their back-to-back, and it will be interesting to see whether Brunson will be available for the game after his ankle injury.
