It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens up front for Newcastle United this summer.
Indeed, while Newcastle United boast one of the best strikers in the world in the form of Alexander Isak, the options behind him are relatively light.
Callum Wilson has been a prolific marksman over the years but remains beset by injuries. Wilson is out of contract this summer and a decision is yet to have been made on his future.
Young Will Osula is another player in Eddie Howe’s squad but has rarely been trusted just yet. While the forward could always develop, little about what he’s done thus far would suggest he’s ready to back-up Isak.
There’s also the small matter of the Sweden star’s future to contend with, although Newcastle insist Isak is not for sale.
With that in mind, perhaps this summer will bring reinforcements to the attacking line.
To that end, Liam Delap may be a target.

Newcastle United target Liam Delap
According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are among the clubs interested in the Ipswich striker.
While it has been a difficult season for the Tractor Boys, Delap has found form. The 22-year-old has scored ten Premier League goals, attracting the interest of big clubs.

The report adds that Chelsea are currently viewed as favourites, however, and that Manchester United are also in running.
As per Manchester City’s official website, Pep Guardiola was effusive in his praise of his former academy graduate during his time at the club.
“He is a killer, a typical British striker, an incredible finisher,” he said.
“He has to improve when he drops, his first touch.
“The only problem we had this season from the beginning is he has been injured. He struggled a lot with his ankles and was not fit.
“He has a special quality. He is a different type of striker.”
How much did Ipswich pay for Liam Delap?
Ipswich paid a reported £20million for Delap, although the deal looks slightly more complicated than that.
Newcastle have been interested in Delap for a while but a contract clause could make life difficult for them.
In fact, City reportedly have a buy-back clause for Delap worth £20million, something they could invoke before moving to sell him on at an even higher price.
Moving for Delap would certainly make sense, even with Isak being the starter in mind. Young, English and proven in the Premier League, he certainly fits the mould of player Howe has generally signed while in charge.
Still, actually getting him looks easier said than done.
