The New York Knicks had a blockbuster interconference clash on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers and lived up to expectations.
Los Angeles got off to a hot start in the game, but the Knicks were able to fight their way back into it. Despite being outscored 23-15 in the fourth quarter, the Knicks were able to force overtime, where they would eventually fall 113-109.
Luka Doncic led the way for the Lakers, recording 32 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James added 31 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists of his own in the victory.
For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson led the way, ending the game with 39 points and 14 assists.
Of course, Brunson's night did not come to an end the way that he wanted it as he was forced to leave the game in overtime after suffering an ankle injury. Despite that, he still put together an incredible performance that also made Knicks' franchise history.
With Brunson recording 39 points and 14 assists, he became the Knicks' all-time leader in 30-point and 10-assist games.

This is a major feat for Brunson to accomplish, especially with how many great players the Knicks have had in their franchises long and storied history.
Of course, this has become a consistent outcome for Brunson as he has turned himself into one of the best point guards in the NBA and he has also continued to etch his name into Knicks' history.
This season, the 28-year-old superstar is averaging 26.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 49.0% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range.
Brunson has led the Knicks to the third best record in the Eastern Conference and they look as though they will once again be a title contender with him and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way.
Of course, the focus for the Knicks now turns to the severity of Brunson's injury, which could end up sidelining him for Friday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.
