Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he could make his Anfield return for their final Premier League match against Crystal Palace. The German admitted that he will mark his comeback when the title is decided after fearing he could jinx their fortunes.

The Reds have been formidable under his successor, Arne Slot, as they take a 13-point lead into Saturday's encounter with Southampton after a break from domestic action. Liverpool could further strengthen their stranglehold on the lead at the summit with a win over the rock-bottom club before Arsenal travel to Manchester United on Sunday.

Klopp recently returned to football as he began his role with Red Bull as their Head of Global Soccer, overseeing and assisting in their operations across each continent they have clubs. The 57-year-old was in Cape Town on Thursday as he attended the Hout Bay United fundraiser, which will aid the football club as well as the wider community.

"I think I will be there for the last game... I didn't want to go earlier to be honest because I didn't want to jinx it all the time. If I'm in the stadium for the first time and they lose, 'oh f*** sake'. So I go there when it's decided."

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah teased a potential return for the Premier League and Champions League-winning manager, during an interview last month. The Egyptian revealed conversations with Klopp and how they have remained in contact since his shock exit, upon the conclusion of last season.

"Yes, more than before," said the forward. "We’re in good contact, we’ve written to each other a lot in the last few months.

"He asked about my family, congratulated me on the games and on reaching the final of the Carabao Cup – things like that. And he told me when he’ll be coming here next…"
