Manchester United drew with Real Sociedad on Thursday, but it should have been a victory.
It was a familiar problem for Ruben Amorim during the Europa League round of 16 clash, as he watched his team fail to show any competence in the final third for much of the game.
Joshua Zirkzee starred for Manchester United as his goal looked to have handed the Red Devils a healthy advantage to take back to Old Trafford.
The game ended with United picking up a 1-1 draw, a result which should never have happened with Amorim’s side having more than enough chances to kill the game.
One moment in particular – during the 19th minute of action – left United fans frustrated as a huge opportunity was squandered due to a terrible decision from a serial underperformed.
After this, Amorim needs to be brave and use an outstanding academy starlet in his place.

Diogo Dalot can’t play as a wing-back for Ruben Amorim
Despite a number of positive signs for Manchester United on Thursday night, there were also some moments of frustration for Amorim. Dalot was United’s worst performer on the night, which will have Amorim desiring a summer move for a right wing-back even more.

The Portugal international was sloppy in possession and when in a position to potentially provide an assist for Rasmus Hojlund, Dalot made an ‘unacceptable’ decision which Scholes labelled as ‘criminal’.
Hojlund went crazy at Dalot for this and after the game Amorim was not impressed, saying: “Dalot’s decision wasn’t the best.”
This should leave the door wide open for Jaydan Kamason.
Jaydan Kamason must be handed chance to replace Dalot for Manchester United
Dalot is a full-back and it’s becoming increasingly clear he doesn’t have what it takes to play as a wing-back. Noussair Mazraoui was the same but invented himself to become a very decent central defender.
Therefore, before the season is out, Amorim could wish to try something new and if he is brave, Kamason is more than deserving of the chance to replace Dalot, with United keen to spend big on right wing-backs this summer.
Kamason has developed very well this campaign. The 18-year-old has added assists and Kamason is also becoming a strong finisher, as his goal against Arsenal showed.
Club staff believe Kamason’s evolution will soon become too good for Amorim to ignore and with Dalot struggling, this should come sooner than later.

Adam Lawrence’s praise of Kamason shows that he has what is needed to be a wing-back in Amorim’s system.
“It was a tremendous moment for him to score. He’s a fantastic kid and we’re really excited about him,” said Lawrence. “He’s always been a full-back that likes to get forward,”
Kamason has seven assists and two goals this season for the U18s and appears to be improving every time we get to watch him in action.
So it is time Amorim took a chance on Kamason and began trusting the youth, as it could hardly be worse than Dalot’s performances of late.
