“Nice to see him grow” – Newcastle star’s agent talks up transfer, ‘impossible to think’ he’ll not move

Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali will return to Italy at some point in the future.

That’s according to the midfielder’s agent, Marianna Meccacci, and he revealed this during Sportitalia‘s podcast, Di Tutto un Pod.

Newcastle United reportedly invested around €70m to acquire Tonali’s signature from AC Milan in July 2023.

The Italy international has cemented his place at Newcastle, making 33 appearances so far this season.

Tonali recently admitted he would be open to returning to the San Siro, while insisting he hasn’t held talks with Juventus.

Last Thursday, we covered claims from Italy which stated the Magpies need €50m to part ways with him. They also talked about the Rossoneri as an option for the player.

The 24-year-old’s representative has given encouragement to his Italian suitors, but isn’t clear when his client will return to Serie A.

“He will return to Italy. When? It’s hard to say. He is an Italian footballing asset, it’s nice to see a man grow through difficulties. I started following him at Brescia, that operation that brought him to England was extraordinary, I realise it caused discontent. Tonali, son of Milan, faith that is there and will remain forever, is sold for a record sum. It was also a choice to try a new experience,” he said.

“As long as the opportunity of the Premier League is there, he will take advantage of it, but it is impossible to think that he’ll not return to Italian football.”

This may lead to more transfer links, at least from Italy, in the next few days.

At the start of this season, the Italian was available for selection again after serving a 10-month ban for gambling addiction. Last month, he opened up about the support received from Newcastle and his club teammates while serving the ban.
