I had to accept Nottingham Forest transfer but I knew it wouldn't go well

Nuno Tavares has spoken out about his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese defender only played eight times for the Reds in the Premier League during an unsuccessful loan at the City Ground from Arsenal last season, which was hit by injuries.

After flopping at Forest, Tavares is now enjoying a strong season on loan at Lazio in Serie A, playing a key role as they sit in fifth place in the table. And speaking to CBS Sports, he insists he felt his move to Nottingham was doomed from the start, despite having praise for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

"Actually it wasn't my decision to go to Forest, I had to accept," he said.

"I went there to play football because that's what I want. Things didn't go well, as I expected.”

"I was trying to find a home last season,” he added. “The balance in my career hasn't been the best I would say but I think now I have the best thing and the best club to get in shape, to do things right and find stability.

"It's really good actually. It's a club who plays for titles, who play in a really beautiful city. All in one, that creates a good energy. I want to win titles and be competitive. That's why I joined Lazio."
