Liverpool left PSG gobsmacked on Wednesday night, nicking a 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes despite the French giants' dominance for most of the match.

Super-sub Harvey Elliott made an instant impact, netting the winner with his first touch, but it was Alisson Becker's heroics that truly sealed the deal, as the Brazilian keeper racked up a record nine saves before Elliott's clincher.

The Reds are now set to welcome PSG to Anfield for the Champions League round-of-16 second leg on Tuesday.

If they can hold their nerve, they're likely to clash with Aston Villa in the quarters, following Emery's squad's 3-1 triumph over Club Brugge.

However, PSG's locker room is brimming with defiance, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Convinced they should've toppled Liverpool in their last encounter, several of Luis Enrique's lads are vowing to conquer Anfield, doubting the Reds have what it takes to beat them again.

"Tough, everyone saw it. It's tough to play a game like that, against this team," lamented Vitinha to Canal+ post-match. "They scored on their only chance. It's tough but now we're going to show the team we are.

"It's been a long time since we lost. Now it's up to us to show our personality, our strength. That's what a real team is. We're going to go there, we're going to play a great game and this time, we're going to score. And we're going to go through, I'm sure of it.

"We're not going to hide behind that (Konate not being sent off for a challenge on Bradley Barcola).

"I remain optimistic because with the game we played, the victory would have been more than deserved. I know that the only thing that matters in football is that the ball goes into the goal.

"But the truth is that we are closer (to winning) by playing like this. We had plenty of chances, like at the start of the season, but we didn't manage to score.

"But I'm sure that will happen in Liverpool, we will play a great match, we will show personality once again and we will win."

In the run-up to the match, several PSG players and their manager Enrique talked up their confidence about facing Liverpool, outlining strategies to outplay the Reds.
