Man Utd drew 1-1 with Real Sociedad and this is how the players rated in the Europa League clash.
Manchester United were made to rue missed opportunities as they drew 1-1 with Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie on Thursday night. Joshua Zirkzee gave United the lead with a fine finish from the edge of the box but United were made to pay for wasted chances when Sociedad got level through a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty.
The equalising goal saw the momentum swing in favour of the home side and it took some fine goalkeeping from Andre Onana and a poor miss from Orri Oskarsson to ensure the match remained level by the full-time whistle.
Casemiro and Leny Yoro both caught the eye with encouraging performances on what was a much improved night for Ruben Amorim’s side. An away draw in the first leg is not a bad result, but Amorim will rue that his side did not make their dominance count on the scoreline. Here is how we rated the United players:

Manchester United player ratings vs Real Sociedad
Andre Onana - 7
A confident display. He was calm in possession and read the game well to collect crosses in the box. Not much he could do about the penalty. A few big saves in the second-half.
Leny Yoro - 7
He gave a comfortable performance and he made a key contribution at the start of the second-half. He's settled into the side well and put off Oskarsson late on.
Matthijs de Ligt - 7
Another solid outing. He made some key interventions at the back and rarely looked fazed. A key piece of improvisation at the end to deny Sociedad a second.
Noussair Mazraoui - 6
He is quickly becoming United's most reliable player. Calm and composed in any position but plays better as a centre-back.
Diogo Dalot - 5
An inexcusable decision to ignore Rasmus Hojlund from a fine crossing position. He was sloppy in possession throughout, but he worked hard.
Bruno Fernandes - 6
A creative threat from central midfield as United dominated the battle. He was at the heart of everything his side did well and was unfortunate to concede the penalty.
Casemiro - 7
A performance reminiscent of his first season as he rolled back the years. The slower pace suited him, and he was composed on the ball. A brilliant pass in the build-up to the opening goal. He could start against Arsenal this weekend.
Patrick Dorgu - 6
Dorgu made a noticeable difference on his return to the starting line up and posed a constant threat from the left wing. He will be missed against Arsenal this weekend.
Alejandro Garnacho - 5
He did not make enough runs in behind a sluggish Sociedad defence and was sloppy in front of the goal again. Redeemed himself with a smart assist for the opener.
Joshua Zirkzee - 7
Another promising performance in one of the attacking midfield roles. A composed finish to give his side a deserved lead in the match.
Rasmus Hojlund - 6
Hojlund is much better suited to European matches and was bright again. He made some good movements in the final third and worked the channels well. An encouraging display.
Christian Eriksen - 5
United lost their grip on midfield proceedings in the final minutes of the match. He hardly had a kick of the ball in a forgettable cameo.
Victor Lindelof and Toby Collyer - N/A
They did not spend enough time on the pitch to be fairly rated after being brought on in the 87th minute.
