Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has once again aimed praise at Mason Mount, despite the Englishman’s nightmare spell at Manchester United.
Mount, now 26, worked under Lampard at both Derby County and Chelsea, and he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most gifted midfielders during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The ex-England international helped Chelsea win the Champions League back in 2021, but he opted to leave west London in 2023 after receiving an approach from Man Utd - the club his father supports.
However, Mount has struggled to stay fit since his arrival at Old Trafford and he has only racked up 1,159 minutes of action across 32 appearances over the past 18 months.
Despite this, Lampard has once again directed praise at his former pupil. The former Chelsea head coach is now in charge at Coventry City and he spoke about Mount during the first episode of ‘EFL Unfiltered" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3B9AMRDz3Q&t=47s" target="_blank">EFL Unfiltered’.

“I have this real professional drive and if I see something and I want to do it, I’ll do it,” Lampard admitted.
“If I can’t do it, I want to do it. If I do it well, I want to do it better. I’ve always had that and I have taken it into management. It becomes a bit more taxing as you get older as well. It’s a bit more tiring. When you’ve got loads of energy in your 20s, it’s like I’m going to the moon.”

Lampard continued: “Then when you’re in your 40s, you have days where you go: ‘I need a day off’. But the drive in me is still there, it just changes a bit I guess.
“I love seeing it in players, there’s some players that naturally have it. I always felt that with Mason Mount, working with him as a young player, I could see the look in his eye.”
Ruben Amorim on Mason Mount
Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has also issued his support to Mount amid the 26-year-old’s consistent injury troubles.

“You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.”
