Arsenal are set for a crucial summer transfer window following a season plagued by injuries. The Gunners have endured multiple setbacks, with nearly every player missing time due to injuries or suspensions. However, the most damaging losses have come in the attacking department.

Currently, Arsenal are without four key attacking players, including star winger Bukayo Saka. The England international has been sidelined since December 21 after undergoing hamstring surgery but is expected to return after the upcoming international break. Gabriel Martinelli, out since February, is also on course to rejoin the squad around the same time.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have both been ruled out for the rest of the season following significant injuries. Defensive utility man Takehiro Tomiyasu is also set to miss the remainder of 2025 after undergoing another surgery, further depleting Mikel Arteta’s options.

As a result of their attacking struggles, Arsenal are prioritising the signing of a striker this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko emerging as a top target. The Slovenian forward has attracted significant interest from top European clubs, and according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Arsenal have been closely monitoring him for over a year.

Sesko, regarded as one of the most talented young strikers in world football, has a £58 million release clause in his contract. However, that figure could rise based on his performances and Leipzig’s final league position. Reports indicate that Arsenal face competition from Liverpool and Chelsea, who are also keen on securing his signature.

Ornstein provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit, stating in a Q&A onThe Athletic: “Arsenal will have done a significant amount of work on many options and, to my knowledge, none more so than Sesko. That doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to sign him because, as you mention, there is the Isak interest, and also, they are not the only club pursuing Sesko.”

While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains another potential option, Arsenal’s focus appears to be on Sesko. However, with competition from multiple clubs and potential changes in the market, the Gunners’ striker hunt remains far from settled.
