Newcastle United €35m+€15m offer is best player has recently – Club expected much more

Benfica’s Antonio Silva has been a highly-rated name in Portugal in the past few seasons and Newcastle United have been repeatedly linked.

Record have looked at the centre-back’s situation in detail today, noting how his value has fallen over the past year.

They state that in the summer of 2023, Benfica rejected several offers worth over €60m for the defender. Their belief was that his value would only go up from there.

However, the 2023/24 season wasn’t a great one for the Portugal international, who also made high-profile errors at the Euros.

Around that period, Newcastle United made an offer that was valued at €35m plus bonuses of €15m. That is the highest offer Benfica have received since then.

Things have got worse this season. Silva made a major error against ten-men Barcelona in midweek and has also had problematic outings against Casa Pia, Salzburg and Marseille.

This has brought about a major devaluation. Newcastle United’s offer is the best recently and unless things change that may stay the same.
