Mikel Arteta is apparently worried about the temperament of Cunha, who is considered by Arsenal this summer. However, the Wolves forward has been in top form and the club claims them to have been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. But the Gunners could fall to studying how fiery his nature is and how his recent disciplinary record is.
Of course, Cunha has not been the most prolific scorer since he joined the Wolves from Atletico Madrid in 2023, scoring 31 goals in 85 appearances, but it is also fair to say that he has created a reputation for being a little bit… well, how do I put it… Let’s just say he doesn’t keep it too cool with his emotions. His charmed highlight reel includes a headbutt in the FA Cup to a scuffle with Ipswich Town security.
The Good, the Bad, and the Hot-Headed
Cunha’s Talent Is Undeniable
There’s no questioning Cunha’s ability. Martin Keown described his goal against Bournemouth as Champions League worthy. He’s lethal forward, moving around and creating at a high rate, and he’s at the peak of his powers at 25.
He has five goals in six games since February, but the Wolves are having to fight relegation and he is proving his worth. Attacking reinforcements are needed at Arsenal and Cunha can provide the firepower that is needed at North London.
But Can Arsenal Handle His Fiery Temper?
Here’s where things get tricky. Cunha’s track record is certainly not something Arteta is looking for; he demands discipline in his players. He has served a recent FA Cup red card following his headbutting of an opponent and running off the pitch. It isn’t the kind of behavior that suits Arsenal’s structured dressing room.
We shouldn’t forget about another incident he had, for instance, pulling glasses off a security guard like a villain in a slapstick comedy. If he commutes to London and signs for Arsenal, he may need a full-time babysitter for his agent as well.
