‘Wouldn’t rule him out’ – Reporter floats potential Leeds United return for 28-year-old

Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison has MLS interest but reporter Graeme Bailey says he wouldn’t rule out at Elland Road return for the winger.

Leeds United saw a host of players move on when they were relegated. Some left LUFC for good, while others left on loan for higher leagues.

Among those to head out temporarily was winger Jack Harrison, who linked up with Everton for the 2023/24 season. Following the Whites’ failure to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Harrison returned to the Toffees for a second stint last summer.

This season hasn’t had as much fruit to bear for the 28-year-old and eyes are already on what next season could hold. MLS clubs are said to have held exploratory talks with Leeds United over the possibility of a deal.

Now though, speaking with Leeds United News, reporter Graeme Bailey has floated the possibility of Harrison’s Premier League pedigree being put to use at Elland Road again.

Bailey acknowledged a possible MLS switch but highlighted the challenges that could pose before suggesting an LUFC stay is not out of the question.

“He’d have to be a DP (designated player). We know he likes it over there (USA),” he said.

“There is contact over there, I wouldn’t rule it out, but he’s on a very large wage in the Premier League. He’s got until 2028 at Leeds; it would be very difficult for an MLS club to sign him, and he’d have to be a DP player – and there aren’t many DP slots available.

“I wouldn’t rule it out, but I’m not sure about that.

“Leeds United have a good squad, but when you get a player with Premier League experience in Harrison, I wouldn’t rule him out of a return to Leeds.”
