Marquette Golden Eagles failed in their attempt for revenge against the University of Connecticut Huskies as they tripped at the tail-end of the game both defensively and offensively.

The team finished 72-66 with the Golden Eagles at the wrong end. This is the second time in four games that team was limited to 66 points and the first loss was also a defeat.
Head coach Shaka Smart thinks their offense can improve. They already have Kam Jones who scored 21 points while David Joplin, who is the team’s second best scorer this season, had 23.

They are the only ones who scored in double digits while the bench which saw four players with burn time only produced two points in total.
“For us to win, from a scoring standpoint, we’d probably need one more guy to jump up there and score a couple more,” he told reporters after the game.
Kam Jones’s consistency for Marquette Golden Eagles
Jones, whose name has been on many All-American players conversations and NBA mock drafts, has been balling this season.
Smart thought Jones continues to show that he is among the best college players in the country despite intense defense given to him by the Huskies.
“I think that for the last two years we’ve had the best guard in the league,” Smart said. “And I think that it’s probably hard to officiate but, man, he’s attacking every time, getting down there.

“I thought he did a good job handling contact. Obviously some possessions he’d like to have back. But him and Jop really carried us on the offensive end today.”
Marquette will return to action on Saturday to face Big East’s no. 1 team for a long time – the St. John’s Red Storm.
Jones and Joplin will need Chase Ross, Stevie Mitchell, Ben Gold, and the rest of the bench to make their jobs easier.
