One UI 7 is late, but One UI 8 may be here early

Google released Android 15 in October 2024. Samsung should have started offering it to eligible devices by the end of last year, but the South Korean tech giant has still not released it. While the brand is lagging behind with Android 15-based One UI 7.0 roll out, it looks like we will get Android 16-based One UI 8.0 on time as its test build has now been spotted for the Galaxy S25.

On X, Tarun Vats reports that he has spotted a new firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra on Samsung’s server. It has version S938BXXU1BYC1. Going by Samsung’s firmware number convention, it seems to be Android 16-based One UI 8.0. You can check it out in the image below.

In the firmware versions for Samsung smartphones and tablets, the fourth letter from the last denotes the version of One UI. A is for the version of One UI the device launches with. The firmware with the next version of One UI for the device gets the letter B in the last fourth place.
