Should the Broncos be interested in TE Evan Engram?

Good Morning Broncos Country!

On Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars made a number of roster moves, including releasing veteran tight end Evan Engram. The receiving tight end instantly becomes the top free agent on the market and could interest the Broncos who are looking to upgrade the position.

Engram will turn 31 years old in September, but would give the Broncos a receiving threat at tight end. This past year was a down one for him as he only played in 9 games due to a hamstring injury that cost him three games and then a torn labrum in his right shoulder that required surgery. However, Engram was one of the better tight ends in the league the year prior when he had 114 receptions for 963 yards and 4 touchdowns.

A soon-to-be 31-year-old tight end coming off an injury-shortened year is a bit of a red flag, but when healthy, he has been a productive player. I would not be against a one or two year deal for him while they still draft a tight end early in the draft.

Ultimately, I still expect Sean Payton and the Broncos to target and likely sign former Saints tight end Juwan Johnson who would be an upgrade. However, Engram does give them options and arguably an even more talented option for them to choose from.

Either way, I expect the Broncos to land one of the veteran tight ends early in free agency, the question is, which one will they sign?
