Wayne Rooney had some decisions that didn’t go his way upon his return to Everton in 2017, but this specific scenario left him raging.
The England legend has mixed opinions from Evertonians as many questioned Rooney leaving for Manchester United in 2004.
Nevertheless, he made an astonishing return, which panned out well for his career, until it ended quite unfortunately due to Farhad Moshiri letting him go.
His first exit from the Toffees raised question marks, but Rooney revealed he joined United to trump Liverpool in a sort of silver lining for Everton supporters.
His second exit was quite sudden with no help from Moshiri, but during his return, a decision David Unsworth made didn’t leave Rooney smiling.

Rooney was ‘fuming’ at David Unsworth decision at Everton
Rooney did make his impact during his return to Goodison Park as 10 goals in the Premier League helped Everton to an eighth-place finish, which at the time wasn’t great, but David Moyes would take that in a heartbeat now.
With Ronald Koeman being sacked at the start of that season, Everton hero Unsworth took on the role on an interim basis.
He made a strong impression, and on his last game in charge before Sam Allardyce was appointed, Unsworth guided Everton to an impressive 4-0 win against West Ham, as Rooney scored a hat-trick.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Rooney spoke to Everton’s club media about his extraordinary halfway line goal in that game at Goodison but explained why he was left fuming by Unsworth’s choices, which involved a forgotten former Everton player.
“Undy (Unsworth) dropped me the game before,” Rooney said.
“He was playing Beni Baningime, so I was fuming with that!
“That was his last game, and he put me back in the team, first and only hattrick for Everton, so that was a proud moment.”

Rooney should be considered Everton legend despite Jamie Carragher claim
Despite his unloyal nature in leaving Everton, Rooney does deserve some credit for his impact.
Bursting onto the scene at 16 is some feat, even though Moyes said Rooney was hard to manage.
His decision to rejoin the club was a solid choice as well, but it seemed like the right move but the wrong time with the ownership of Moshiri.
Even though he did this, Jamie Carragher said Rooney wasn’t an Everton legend, which was a controversial take.
You can tell his ambition to continue playing for Everton was still there, and even as an experienced player, he showed his anger to Unsworth with the decision to drop him.
Whatever happens next for Rooney, Evertonians will no doubt be keeping a keen eye out.
