And at the heart of the smokescreen ingrained in the transfer market this summer is Bene František Sesko. Spurs are on the losing end of this battle when it comes to the RB Leipzig striker and they are being touted by Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and a host of other Premier League clubs.
However, journalist Florian Plettenberg expects Sesko to move to either Chelsea, Manchester United, or Arsenal, with Tottenham not having a great chance. The 21-year-old forward is in high demand with a legacy clause of up to €80 million (£66.4 million). Missing out on a rising star like him would be another bitter pill to swallow, given the Spurs’ recent transfer history.
Chelsea’s Striker Crisis = Urgency to Sign Sesko
Tottenham are looking for a striker, while Chelsea are desperately in the market for one. With Marc Guiu injured too and Christopher Nkunku more of a support forward, the Blues are still devoid of serious depth in attack, with Nicolas Jackson having been their main option up front. That is not an option but a necessity for Chelsea to sign the young star, Sesko.

Now, Chelsea have absolutely no hesitation when it comes to splashing cash. Spurs ring a bell, especially when it comes to their… sensitive spending, compared to Chelsea’s ownership, which tends to deal with the transfer window like Black Friday: buy first and else they will, shall we say, take care of themselves later. It is far more likely that Chelsea will blink and pay up without blinking if Leipzig demands the full €80 million.
Manchester United Factor & Tottenham’s History of Missed Opportunities
Also, the wildcard in this race is Manchester United. Christopher Vivell, who knows Sesko well from his former club at Leipzig, was recently appointed at the Red Devils. Indeed, if United are all out, they could pull Tottenham further from the picture. Tragically, the Spurs have a history of almost signing players. Spurs fans know the pain; it’s Willian, Paulo Dybala, and Jack Grealish. Even Sesko might be another name on that infamous list.
