Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle keen on €40m-rated Portuguese prodigy

Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Portuguese winger Roger Fernandes from SC Braga.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Roger Fernandes has garnered a market in the Premier League. Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United have set their sights on the SC Braga attacking sensation. Meanwhile, the Portuguese prodigy’s contract with the Primeira Liga club has a release clause worth €40 million.

Who is Roger Fernandes?

Roger Fernandes is the latest highly-rated wonderkid to rise in prominence in Portugal. A native of Bissau, the teenage sensation spent his formative years in Portugal, graduating from the youth division at SC Braga. He broke into the first-team squad at the Primeira Liga club in July 2021 and has come leaps and bounds in the last three and a half years.

The 19-year-old became the youngest-ever participant in the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira when he made his senior bow for SC Braga. The youngster has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for the club while chipping in with 11 goals and 12 assists. Meanwhile, Roger’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.

A man in demand

Newcastle United hold a long-standing interest in the Portuguese prodigy, and he remains a target for the Tyneside outfit. The Magpies parted ways with Miguel Almiron this past winter, and the SC Braga wonderkid is a viable candidate to replace the Paraguayan international. As for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah faces an uncertain future at Anfield.

The Egyptian international has yet to sign a new contract with Liverpool, although the Reds hope to tie him to a deal soon. Nevertheless, the SC Braga whizkid is a viable target for the Merseyside outfit. Meanwhile, Manchester City’s interest in Roger Fernandes makes sense, considering Jack Grealish faces an uncertain future at the Etihad.

As for Manchester United, Ruben Amorim wants a versatile attacker to reinforce his offensive unit in the summer transfer window. So, several candidates, including Karim Adeyemi, are on the Red Devils’ radar, with Roger also a viable target.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Portuguese prodigy has a release clause worth €40 million in his contract with SC Braga. Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United should have the funds to afford a deal worth €40 million, and it will not be surprising to see him arriving in England soon.
