Real Madrid genuinely believe midfielder can be the ‘best in the world’ in makeshift position

Real Madrid return to action in La Liga later this week after a much-needed win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

After a dismal run in the competition in recent months, Los Blancos will look to turn the tables around and get back three points in the title race for they are now treading a tightrope.

Considering that they could not beat the same opposition, Rayo Vallecano, the last time they played, however, it will be anything but easy and the men in white must stay alert.

Rayo Vallecano defender talks

Speaking to the media ahead of the La Liga game against Real Madrid, Rayo Vallecano defender Florian Lejeune gave his thoughts on a plethora of topics related to Los Blancos and the arriving game.

He began by speaking on Vinicius Jr and how a lot is made of the Brazilian’s actions on the field.

“He’s a young player who still has to learn. He’s trying, but then the teams, players and fans try to annoy him,” he began.

“He seems like a good person who doesn’t want to hurt or do things wrong. However, due to his way of being and competing, things don’t go so well,” he added.

Speaking on Kylian Mbappe and what he thought of the forward, Lejeune said: “[He is at a] very high level. It has taken him some time to get used to the team and the culture of the country.”

The defender then admitted that Rayo Vallecano were far from their best but did not lose hope ahead of the Real Madrid clash.

“It is true that we are in a slightly more complicated moment, but the team has good feelings. We have seen it against Barça and Villarreal, despite the expulsion the other day, I think we played a good game, in which we deserved more.”

Elaborating on his team’s chances against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Lejeune maintained optimism.

“We have options to win and we will do our best to do it. If we don’t win, then a draw and even if not, we will give our best.”

Finally, the Rayo Vallecano star spoke out on his thoughts on the refereeing situation in Spain.

“It’s a delicate issue. The work of the referees is very difficult. Now there is a lot of trouble with the VAR, some plays are similar from one game to another but the decision is different.”

“I think that in the end, you have to maintain the same line of continuing to play and compete because sooner or later something positive will come out.”
