Manchester United are continuously scouting targets to transform their squad, looking at stars who can instantly make an impact in the squad, and those who have potential for the future.
United made only two signings in the January transfer window, reflecting both of these approaches.
Patrick Dorgu was signed from Lecce and has instantly established himself as the club’s first-choice left-wing-back, whilst youngster Ayden Heaven joined from Arsenal as a future prospect.
The priority of the recruitment team has clearly shifted towards getting in younger players who can have some longevity at Old Trafford.
This focus is a change from the idea of making big-name and big-money signings like Casemiro who will ultimately only have a couple of years at the club.
Now, United are reportedly looking at signing another impressive defensive talent from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Manchester United monitor Fenerbahce wonderkid Yusuf Akcicek

CaughtOffside has reported that Manchester United are showing strong interest in Fenerbahce youngster Yusuf Akcicek.
United have already sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old centre-back who was promoted to the senior team in the summer.
A product of the Fenerbahce Academy, Akcicek has already made 14 appearances for the club, with two goals and and assist already to his name.
Whilst Akcicek has been more of a cameo star in the Turkish Super Lig, he’s been key for Jose Mourinho’s side in the Europa League.
It’s understood that the Turkish side have put a price tag on him of £17 million (€20 million), with several clubs including United now circling the star.
The Red Devils are up against fellow Premier League sides Arsenal, Tottenham and Brighton, with other European sides also monitoring the youngster.
The likes of Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are also interested in signing the star this summer, leading to an interesting race for his signature.
