Jorginho sat down at Emirates Stadium this week to reflect on our huge win away to PSV Eindhoven, look ahead to the weekend’s trip to Old Trafford and more.
Starting with Tuesday’s 7-1 success in the Netherlands, Jorgi spoke about the importance of getting back to winning ways with such a convincing performance.
“It was really important, the way we did it as well is so important for the confidence of the team,” he said. “We need to carry on and no matter what happens we need to keep pushing and working hard.
“We talked about it last week that we need to step up a little bit more, having all these issues. If everybody does just a bit more, we can contribute for the team and we can still go far.
“The only thing I can say is the boys can rely on me and trust me. I feel the trust and all I want is the best for the team. I’ll do everything I can to help them.”
> "You have to keep pushing, otherwise I think you can drop your motivation for any other game that comes"
Looking ahead to Sunday’s game against Manchester United, Jorgi expects a tough test from Ruben Amorim’s side, and is hoping we can respond to our Emirates FA Cup defeat against them earlier this season.
“It’s always a tricky game because it’s a big game and in these games with these teams competing you never know what can happen, no matter the situations of the team,” he explained.”
“We need to stay focused on what we need to do and win this game because it’s very important for us.
“We’re still feeling it \[the FA Cup loss\] and we want to win this game.”
Regarding the Premier League table, which currently has us second and 13 points behind Liverpool having played one game less, Jorgi said it’s vital to get back to maintaining winning habits that can help us on domestic and European fronts.
“You have to keep going, you have to keep fighting and pushing, otherwise I think you can drop your motivation for any other game that comes,” he said. “It could impact on the Champions League as well, so getting in the habit of winning is the best thing for the team.”
Now coming up to his 200th Premier League appearance, Jorgi reflected on his time at Arsenal and Chelsea, and tried his best to name the nine other players to make more than 50 Premier League appearances for both clubs!
He correctly guessed Cesc Fabregas, Petr Cech, Kai Havertz, David Luiz and Olivier Giroud, while the other answers were Ashley Cole, William Gallas, Nicolas Anelka and Emmanuel Petit.
“So much has happened and it helped me so much to grow as a player, as a man, and I got to know the culture, how they live here, the mentality, the people, and especially the football,” he added. “It’s been really amazing and I’m loving this journey.”
