Manchester United have been scouting Hayden Hackney

United are known to need midfield additions this summer with Christian Eriksen expected to exit the club.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, it appears that the Championship is where United are searching with the article claiming scouts have been taking in Hayden Hackney’s performances.

More United News

United are listed alongside Spurs, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Man City, as the interested clubs in Michael Carrick’s star midfielder.

Hackney was lauded by Carrick for his development, as quoted by the Northern Echo. “You couldn’t ask for much more from Hayden.

“He’s grounded, he’s humble, he’s down to earth and loves to learn. He loves the place and he loves the club as well. To have that, added with the talent he has got, it’s the perfect scenario. I think it just shows his consistency really, over a long period of time. It’s not easy when you’re a younger player, but he’s certainly done that.”

Carrick has also compared himself with Hackney, explaining to Teesside Live that he and the 21-year-old had similar development routes. The pair also share similarities in terms of their passing quality, which United currently lack.

Sunderland duo Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham also in Manchester United plans

United’s eggs are cast into the baskets of two other EFL talents, with a Sunderland duo currently impressing in the Championship, as the Daily Mail confirms.

The article states that United are also keen on signing Jobe Bellingham, along with a number of other Premier League sides including Arsenal.

However, the crown jewel of the EFL right now is long-term United target Chris Rigg. Hailed as a player like Roy Keane but also Phil Foden, the 17-year-old has the world at his feet.

Rigg has also been likened to Bryan Robson for his leadership, bravery and engine in midfield, as he is tipped to be a future box-to-box midfielder at an elite level.

These three signings are moves which we would have seen under Sir Alex Ferguson and they are very exciting. Although it will likely only be one who arrives.
