Samsung doesn’t want you to lose sleep over the Galaxy S25 Edge’s durability

For a smartphone that's rumored to be just 5.84mm thin, durability is certainly going to be top of mind for customers who buy Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge. However, the company is reassuring fans that it's ensured optimal durability for the device.

The reassurance comes from Annika Bizon, the marketing director at Samsung UK, during an interview at the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona. Samsung has continued with its “look, but don't touch” approach for the device, so even though it was proudly displayed at the booth, the company hasn't allowed anyone to touch it yet.

Durability's not going to be an issue with the Galaxy S25 Edge

In an interview with TechRadar, Bizon mentioned that it's “pretty impressive” how so much technology has been squeezed in the svelte form factor of this device, adding that durability has remained an important aspect for the company during the creation of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

The concern would undoubtedly be that the device could bend if, for example, you have it in your back pocket as you sit down. This would evoke memories of the iPhone 6 Plus and its “bendgate” fiasco from 2014, but it seems Samsung's got a handle on things and that's not going to be a problem.

“So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone,” Bizon said, without confirming any specifics regarding the device's thickness or the materials being used. We've exclusively reported that the Galaxy S25 Edge uses a ceramic rear panel, which would be more durable than the glass-based panels typically used in this series.

That could be the reason why Samsung isn't allowing anyone to go hands-on with the device, because the material change would be instantly noticeable. Maybe the company wants to keep this a secret for just a little longer.

As for the device's release, recent rumors have suggested that it may be unveiled next month with a limited release slated for May 2025.
