Steinberg doubles down on staggering West Ham transfer claim as Potter eyes transformational duo

Graham Potter is apparently keen to seal a seriously special double deal for West Ham United in the summer.

West Ham brought Graham Potter into the London Stadium at the start of January, and he has already made a big impact at the club.

The Hammers head coach has undoubtedly improved the quality of football. But Graham Potter has insisted his West Ham team need to combine an attractive playing style with consistent results as well.

Potter has already proven that he’s lightyears ahead of Julen Lopetegui, but his next challenge will be to rebuild the unbalanced squad he’s been left with.

Two key areas where he must strengthen this summer is his central midfield and centre-forward departments.

However, funds are tight at the London Stadium, so Potter needs to be incredibly thrifty with his player recruitment.

And that’s why two of our latest alleged transfer targets are obviously so appealing to not only Potter, but the Hammers owners as well.

West Ham eye double deal for Jonathan David and Angel Gomes

Potter is clearly not messing around ahead of the summer transfer window.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The Hammers head coach is believed to be a huge fan of Lille duo Angel Gomes and Jonathan David.

The Guardian claims that West Ham are very much in the race to sign both players on free transfer this summer.

Potter has been strongly linked with a double deal for the Lille duo over the past few weeks.

Gomes, 24 and David, 25, would totally transform West Ham as a team over night.

The control that the England international would bring to our central midfield department and the pace and power the Canadian would add to our attacking ranks would instantly make us contenders for a top seven finish in the Premier League table next season.

The beauty of both deals is that no transfer fees will be required for either of them.

Surely there hasn’t been the opportunity to make two such game-changing signings for absolutely nothing in the same window.

How much Jonathan David will cost West Ham in agents fees

Despite the fact that the Lille striker will not cost the Hammers a transfer fee, he still won’t be cheap.

That’s because of the salary he will be demanding and fees required for his representatives.

It has been claimed that West Ham will have to pay a total package worth around £17 million to secure David’s signature (Sky Sports Switzerland).

Still, that would represent a quite unbelievable bargain for the Hammers.

Angel Gomes probably won’t demand as much money as Jonathan David, so it’s fair to assume that West Ham could secure a double deal for the Lille duo for less than £30 million in total.

That’s two players right there would could be worth a minimum of £100 million within the next two years. These are the kind of deals that set football clubs up for decades.

The Hammers owners quite simply have to do everything in their power to bring Gomes and David to the London Stadium this summer.
