Kicker Mason Crosby officially retires in green and gold Friday

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Former NFL kicker Mason Crosby will officially hang up his #2 jersey with the Green Bay Packers.

Crosby ends his career as the team’s all-time leading scorer after kicking for Green Bay from 2007 to 2022.

Friday afternoon we’ll hear from Crosby as he officially retires wearing the green and gold.

He announced his intentions to retire in early February. Thursday he shared a statement on social media reading in part:

“Thank you Packers fans for all the support for 16 seasons. Thank you to the Packers organization for the opportunity to play the game I love. Thank you to all of my teammates over the 16 seasons. We had an incredible run and I am so grateful for the friendships formed that will last a lifetime.”

That incredible run started when he was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Colorado.

Crosby played in 238 regular-season games and 23 post-season contests during his 16 years with the Packers, ranking him number one in team history for games played and consecutive games played.

He’s tied for the second-most seasons played in franchise history, sharing that honor with quarterbacks Bart Starr and Brett Favre.

Crosby helped the Packers win a Super Bowl and nine division titles, making the playoffs 12 times and reaching the NFC championship six times.

Among kickers with 50-plus career attempts, he ranks second in franchise history with a field goal percentage of 81.44.

He’s a franchise leader in career points with 1,918, kicking 395 field goals and 733 extra points.

He posted 100-plus points in 15 of his 16 seasons, the third-most in NFL history.

Crosby finished his career playing in three games for the New York Giants in 2023.

Friday, he’ll represent the Green Bay Packers one last time.
