At least four people, including one woman, were killed in Uror County, Jonglei State, following an attack by suspected men from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), an official has confirmed.
Jonglei State Minister for Information Nyamar Lony Thichot Ngundeng, stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday, at approximately 10pm.
“Among the wounded, four are children and two are adults—a woman and a man—who are currently in critical condition at Yuai Hospital,” Ngundeng said.
The Jonglei State Government strongly condemned the attack, attributing it to armed criminals from the Murle community.
Ngundeng called on the Greater Pibor authorities to immediately apprehend those responsible and ensure justice is served.
“The Government of Jonglei State extends its condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident,” Ngundeng added, reaffirming the state’s commitment to fostering peace between Jonglei and GPAA.
Efforts to reach the GPAA Information Minister for comments were unsuccessful.
