Liverpool found themselves a new hero in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
With their backs to wall for most of the game, the Reds had been looking to the likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota or Luis Diaz to get them out of a pickle.
But Arne Slot had other ideas. Slot surprisingly took Salah off, replacing him with Harvey Elliott.
Mere seconds later, Elliott had the ball in the PSG net and wrote his very own chapter of Liverpool history in the process.
It was a great moment for the 21-year-old who has had a difficult first season under Slot, starting only four matches throughout the campaign.
Elliott has been linked with a move away over the summer. And as the dust settles on his heroics in Paris, Liverpool’s stance on an exit for the youngster has been revealed.

Liverpool will not block Harvey Elliott exit
Elliott’s absence from the Liverpool team for much of the season has been a fairly major talking point.
The former Fulham prospect had a good year under Jurgen Klopp in 2023/24 and had been expected to play a big part in Slot’s first Liverpool squad.

However, things have not really panned out that way. An injury at the beginning of the season did not help Elliott and he hasn’t been able to truly force his way in ever since.
And according to The Daily Mail, this lack of game time has left Elliott at something of a ‘crossroads’ approaching the summer.

They claim that while Liverpool are ‘certainly in no rush’ to get rid of their No.19, his future is not totally secure either.
It’s reported that the Reds would not ‘probably not block’ Elliott if a good enough offer arrived this summer.
Elliott admits to Arne Slot ‘anger’
Given the form of the rest of Liverpool’s midfield, Elliott can have few complaints at not being in Slot’s best XI this season.
Nevertheless, he will have expected to have racked up more than the 18 appearances he has so far. Unbelievably, Elliott has played only 76 minutes in the Premier League.
It is not a surprise, therefore, to hear the ‘little diamond’ complain about being ‘angry’ at his lack of game time lately.
“There are moments within the season where I am getting angry, I am getting frustrated because I want to play, but at the same time I need to respect the situation, I need to respect the manager’s decisions,” Elliott says via The Mail.
“Some games I’m needed, some games I’m not. That’s just how football is.”
Given his lack of importance to the Liverpool team at times this term, it would be hard to justify the Reds turning down a good offer for Elliott in the months ahead. But it would be no less of a shame.
