Arsenal are surely booking their place in the last eight of the Champions League after beating PSV 7-1 in the lsat-16 first leg.

The Mikel Arteta’s side are now most likely to play in the quarter finals of the Champions League. They thrashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in their first leg of the last-16. The Gunners totally dominated the game from the start. They have now become the first and only team to score seven goals in the Champions League knockout stage. And now they’re surely heading to Madrid next in their route to the final.

The north London side finished the new and extended group phase of the competition on third place. That meant they were seeded for the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Arteta’s side ended the group phase with wins over Sporting Lisbon, Monaco, Dinamo Zagreb and Girona. That impressive run secured their place in the top-eight. Teams outside of the top-eight had to take part in two-legged playoffs to book their spot in the last-sixteen.

In the last season, the Gunners were knocked out at the quarter-final stage. They played Bayern Munich in the last eight. Munich beat Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate.

Arsenal to face either of Real or Atletico in the quarter-finals

The Gunners have more than one foot in the last-eight of the Champions League. With a 6- goal lead over PSV, they’ll surely make it to the next round. They are aware of the fact that if they beat the Dutch side, they will be facing either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the last-eight. The first leg of will be hosted by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Real Madrid beat Atletico 2-1 in their first-leg at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night. The Los Blancos now have a narrow lead of one goal over Diego Simeone’s side.

The Madrid Derby saw brilliant individual displays leading to three beautiful goals in the game. Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Dias scored for Real and Julian Alvarez was on the scoresheet from Atletico. The 15-time Champions League winners will be playing the second-leg away from home at the Metropolitano Stadium next week.
